The number of single-person households has been increasing rapidly, and even though it can be lonely, it can also be a wonderful way to live. Having other people around isn’t much fun at times! If you live alone and you are not happy with it, check out some great benefits of living on your own and you will realize how lucky you are!
1. Live how you please
Living on your own means that you can live how you like. You don’t need adapt to anyone else’s schedule. You don’t have to share your bathroom, and thus don’t have to wait for someone else to shower, especially when you are in a hurry. Moreover, no one will complain about the way you do things.
2. You have your own space
Having your own space is another great benefit of living alone. Everybody with a family has perhaps longed for a private space, but if you live alone every room of the home is yours! It is so awesome to get home after a hard day at work, and know that there is no one to bother you.
3. You have a quiet home
I like the peace and quiet and for me it is one of the biggest advantages of living alone. I must not listen to other people going and coming, banging door, playing music, cooking something, when I want to sleep or just relax. A quiet home is a happy home!
4. You are independent
Living alone teaches you a lot about being independent. Many people have spent most of their lives living with parents, roommates or partners, and they have never really had to cope on their own. Yes, it can be a challenge, but it will teach you numerous survival skills!
5. You decorate your home to your own tastes
If you live alone, you decorate your home the way you want to. You do not have to compromise or adapt, or put up with someone’s taste in furnishings. If you want to paint the walls green, you can do it without asking for permissions!
6. Sharing can be terrible
People who have ever shared a house have their own bad stories about their ex-roommates. Your roommate can flirt with your boyfriend, move her partner in without asking you, or never paid on time.
7. Other people’s habits
Usually when you start sharing a home, it begins well. But then you start discovering your roommate’s irritating habits and such little things as leaving dirty plates or using your food can drive you mad. When you live alone you don’t have to worry about those things.
8. You have total control
When you live on your own, you have total control over your home and the way you live your life. You can arrange the house to suit your tastes, and keep whatever hours you want to. You don’t have to be a control freak in order to enjoy having that much freedom!
Living on your own has its advantages and disadvantages. Some people are solitary, while others hate being alone. What do you prefer – living on your own or being surrounded by people? Share your thoughts, please!
