3 Things to Do When You’re Feeling Lonely at Night : The late American self-help motivational speaker and author Wayne Dryer said: “You cannot be lonely if you like the person you’re alone with.” Liking who you are is often thought of as the number one way to overcome loneliness.
Everyone, no matter their age, marital status, rank in society, lack of or abundance of money, or other outside influences, goes through periods of loneliness. It is a common human emotion. One of the newer ways to combat periods of loneliness is to reach out to others through live phone chat lines.
Below are 3 things you can do to combat that lonely feeling at night.
-
Make an Effort
You will need to make an effort to reach out to others to become less lonely. Some individuals, especially those who are extremely shy or die-hard introverts, find it difficult to reach out to others.
Online chat groups and phone chat lines are one of the simplest ways to talk with others without being too afraid of the possibility of rejection. You can remain anonymous and talk or chat with others that share your interests. Having something in common with someone is a great way to break the ice and begin a conversation, even if it is not in person.
There are thousands of different types of groups online and on phone chat lines that you can jump in and have a conversation with someone. This is a good way to make friends in your area and around the world.
Just be honest when talking with someone. Don’t pretend to be someone you are not, even if there is no chance you will ever meet the person at the other end of the line.

Join a (Live) Group
Instead of sitting at home night after night, why not join a weekly group? You can engage in lively conversations and do activities you enjoy as well as meet new people.
There are groups in most towns for literally everything imaginable, from sports, dancing, and crafts to learning a new language or technical skill. Start with the local public school district and inquire as to whether they offer adult learning classes. If you live in a college town or near one, they will also offer various classes to the public.
Another option of joining a group is the local community theatre. You don’t have to be an expert in Shakespeare or even comfortable with being on stage. There are many behind the scenes activities that will allow you to join in and be of help. Costumes, set building and props are departments within a theatre that are always looking for extra hands.

Work on Yourself
Many lonely individuals do not like their own company and sometimes convince themselves; others won’t like to be with them either. One of the best things you can do for your loneliness is to become comfortable with being alone.
You need to like yourself before others will like you. This may require self-help books or support groups or even therapy, but you will become a better person if you explore the possibilities of liking yourself more.
