How to Keep Your Skin Glowing

How to Keep Your Skin Glowing : When it comes to our complexions, most of us want that same thing; glowing skin that looks like we were born with it. And the never-ending quest of radiant skin, you’ve probably tried a myriad of products, some of which worked and probably many that didn’t. So, when it comes to your skincare ritual, you need to get back to basics. Below are five things you can do to keep your skin looking radiant.

Sleep Smart

Sleep is the best, and probably the most cost-effective way, to keep your skin glowing. Proper sleep has a full-body rejuvenating effect, so not getting enough of it eventually shows up on your face. In addition to dark circles, lack of quality sleep can also cause your skin to look blotchy with an uneven skin tone. Getting seven to nine hours of sleep each night might even help with acne flare-ups, if you don’t suffer from cystic acne. Even on the weekends, you need to stick to the same sleep schedule.

Limit Alcohol Intake

Alcohol isn’t only harmful for your liver, it’s also bad for your skin. Alcohol dilates the blood vessels in your skin, which causes a flushed appearance when you drink too much. Regular alcohol consumption can also cause negative impacts to your skin, even when you haven’t been drinking yet that day. To keep your skin glowing, you need to limit your alcohol intake. Since alcohol is dehydrating, you also need to rehydrate with plenty of H2O.

Pick Your Potion

Everyone’s skin is different, so you need to choose products that work specifically for your skin type. Look for products that are powerful enough to increase cell turnover but also gentle enough for daily use after cleansing your skin. In addition to retinol, you also need to invest in a high-quality Vitamin C face serum. Vitamin C reduces the appearance of skin imperfections, is hydrating and smoothes fine lines and wrinkles. Look for lightweight formulations with 20 percent Vitamin C to keep your skin glowing.

Use Sunscreen

You should be applying sunscreen every day. UV rays are harmful, even for someone with a darker complexion. Since sun damage can occur on cloudy days as well, make sure you’re applying products that are labeled 30 SPF or higher. Look for brands that are long-lasting and contain zinc oxide. You should also wear protective clothing like sun hats or visors when outside.

Exfoliate Regularly

To keep your skin silky smooth, you also need to exfoliate regularly. As we get older, cell turnover slows down. This can leave your skin looking dull and lackluster. Gentle exfoliation two to three times a week will remove dead cells and may promote cell production. Just make sure you choose an exfoliant for your skin type. If your skin is sensitive, you should only use products that are formulated for your skin type. You can even make your own exfoliant with granulated sugar and lemon at home. Coffee ground scrubs work great but are super messy, so only use those in shower.
