Make Your Home More Inviting

If you’re going to be hosting a party or a dinner, or just welcoming your friends into your home, you might be looking for some tips for making your home more inviting. An inviting home doesn’t feel stuffy and cold and it instantly welcomes others in. So here are a few amazing ways to make your home more inviting that you will definitely want to try.

1. Light up your entryway

Lighting up your entryway is one of the easiest ways to make your home more inviting. If you’re going to be having guests over late in the evening, be sure to leave a light on at the doorway. Your guests will know where to enter and they will know that they’re welcome to come in. Nothing can be colder than a dark entryway at night, since it makes a home feel unwelcoming.

2. Put on lights

When you welcome guests make sure you light up not only your entryway, but the inside of your home too. Open up curtains, put on lights, and make your home bright and inviting. A bright home will instantly let guests know that you’re really expecting them.

3. Put on music

For an inviting mood, put on a little music. Choose tunes that have an upbeat sound and it will be better if your guests know these tunes. Don’t choose hardcore punk, heavy metal or heavy rap, it may be good for you, not for your guests. Choose the type of playlist that many people you invite into your house will be familiar with.

4. Fill your home up with a warm scent

One of the best ways to make your home more inviting is to fill it up with a warm scent. However, make sure you don’t overdo it! Don’t choose a scent that is very pungent, for instance, patchouli oil doesn’t have a welcoming effect. Opt for a warm scent, like vanilla, cinnamon, or apple. These scents will fill up your home and will make it instantly feel welcoming.

5. Comfy pillows

You will definitely welcome your guests to sit on your couch, right? So why not make it look more inviting and cozy by putting out several comfy pillows? But don’t put too many pillows since it may give the impression that you don’t actually want your guests to sit on your couch. Just set out a few pillows and that will be enough to make your couch look more welcoming.

6. Offer drinks

If your guests are of drinking age and they enjoy alcoholic drinks, set out some pleasant beverages to enjoy. If your guests are not of age, you could offer some non-alcoholic beverages, such as iced tea, lemonade, hot tea, coffee, or some frothy mocktails.

7. Offer treats

If you’re not hosting a dinner party, you shouldn’t put out an entire spread of food, but try to welcome your guests with some good treats. For instance, put some cookies out on your table and fill a bowl with different candies. You can even make an apple pie to treat your guests.

An inviting house will make your guests feel like they are really at home, which is one of your goals as a host. Do you have any other tips on how to make a home more inviting? Share them, please!
