Most-Ignored Sexual Erogenous Zone

The taint. If you had a dollar for every time you’ve heard a joke about it, you’d probably be pretty flush right now. But if all you’re doing with your taint is laughing at it, then you’re missing out on some serious pleasure. The space between your genitals and your anus, a.k.a. the perineum, is packed with nerve endings. “The addition of a little perineal stimulation can take your regular sex routine to a whole new level,” says Jessica O’Reilly, Ph.D., author of Hot Sex Tips, Tricks, and Licks and Astroglide’s resident sexologist.

Not sure how exactly to handle this sensitive spot? To get familiar with your perineum, explore the area with a finger—or bring in some outside help: “Some people slide a small vibrator beneath their perineum during self-pleasure to heighten orgasmic response,” says O’Reilly. Once you’ve mastered the DIY approach, try working these taint tips into your regular routine for some super steamy nights.

For Him

During Hand Play
“Put a few drops of lube on your index and middle finger, and gently circle them around the space right behind his balls during foreplay,” says O’Reilly. “As he becomes more aroused, press a little harder in rhythm with your stroking or thrusting.”

During Oral
O’Reilly suggests stroking his taint with your tongue, moving it from front to back and then from back to front. “Then proceed to move your lips back up his shaft,” she says.

During Sex
“Reach behind his balls, and stroke from the very back [right in front of his anus] to the front [behind his balls], adding extra pressure on each end,” says O’Reilly. “Be sure to lube up your fingers—three should do—and apply firm pressure. If he’s thrusting into you, you may not even need to move your hand at all, as his movements will guide your fingers against the entire length of this sensitive area.”

For Her

During Hand Play
O’Reilly suggests having your partner try the “sweet pinch:” Your partner should cover his thumb and index finger in lube, then slide his index finger inside of you while gently sliding his thumb along your taint to create a “pinching” movement.

During Oral
Your partner can “rile you into a ravenous frenzy by licking, sucking, and breathing warm air around this area, allowing his nose to only incidentally brush against your vulva,” says O’Reilly. Or, if his positioning makes it difficult to get his tongue down there, she says he can “simply lube up his pinky finger and trace it around your perineum in oval figure-eights and S formations” while he’s going down on you.

During Sex
Lead your partner’s finger to the area where your labia lips meet at the very bottom, and ask him to extend the stroke of his finger another inch with feather-light touch.
