Nomadworks puts Wellness in Coworking : Coworking in New York City is booming! Every day there are more and more coworking offices springing up in new neighborhoods. With all that competition the hardest task for these coworking spaces isn’t just keeping their members happy, it’s distinguishing themselves from the pack.
That’s what brought us to Nomadworks.
The massive 3-floor coworking space offers all the bells and whistles of the industry. You get your free coffee, tea, conference room credits, and desk as you might expect. However, what might take you by surprise is the commitment they have to health, wellness, and beauty.
“It all starts with our unique approach” CEO of Nomadworks Steven Cohen said, “we don’t want Nomadworks to be just another place to work, rather, a place for people to grow connections, experiences, relationships and themselves. The value we place in personal health and expression is represented through our wellness program, as well as the companies we take on board.”
With this in mind, Ruth Zukerman Co-founder of Flywheel and Soulcycle, was asked to be the keynote speaker at the Nomadworks relaunch event to further drive home their wellness philosophy. “Ruth’s story epitomized what we are seeking to accomplish here.” Steven added, “We’re a space for businesses and people to grow. We want our members to be bold and ambitious, and support them anyway we can.”
That commitment is apparent at Nomadworks day in and day out. Look no further than StyleHaus NYC by Crystal Carrero . Crystal has been working in the hair and makeup industry for over 12 years. She began her journey with Bumble and Bumble learning, working, and eventually teaching there before breaking out on her own. Since then, she has done hair and makeup for massive ad campaigns such as DKNY, as well as a Rolodex of celebrities.
She also happens to own the one and only hair salon found in a coworking working building, right inside of Nomadworks. “They go above and beyond for me” chimed the charming Crystal when asked about how Nomadworks has accommodated her. “They really believe in their mission here, and more importantly believe in us [the members].” When asked about how the members of Nomadworks enjoy her services Crystal added, “They love it. Imagine never having to leave the office for your hair appointment? It doesn’t get more convenient than that. As for the men, they also get to enjoy a salon quality cut that’s quick, easy, and affordable. Really everyone wins here.”
Nomadworks went as far as to add a sink in Crystal’s innovative office to help her expand her services to coloring and shampoos. “We walk the walk,” Nomadworks marketing manager Adam Wolfe said, “we don’t just talk about investing in our members or investing in wellness, we take steps every day to show our member base we care. When Crystal’s business grows, we grow. It’s that simple.”
Now the built-in hair salon may be impressive, but it was far from the only element that made Nomadworks stand out to us. Their yoga and wellness program provided by Bellavita: Fitness and Wellness was a standout. “We make sure to put on a class every week” Nomadworks community manager James Leavy proudly stated, “it’s a key part of what makes our community special. It’s important to our members, and it’s important for us to always provide a consistent, safe, and fun environment for everyone involved.
Bellavita’s co-founder, Izabella Steele, praised the atmosphere of Nomadworks saying “we love our partnership with them. They really understand the importance of bringing wellness to their members and are totally in line with what the Bellavita brand represents. Beyond just providing a service, we truly believe we are part of a community here.”
With more and more businesses turning to coworking to house themselves, it is interesting to see how the vast number of coworking facilities chooses to differentiate them from the pack. Nomadworks has gone in the direction of providing a space that is not only supportive to growing businesses, but also nurturing to those who run them. They have even gone as far as to add a room dedicated to meditation and relaxation. Members can book the space, free of charge, on their website portal. After they have selected their time slot, they can take a load off in a comfortable hammock to decompress during a stressful day.
According to CEO Steven Cohen, “It’s all about how you approach a work-life balance. You end up spending so much time at your office, working hard, working late, it’s up to us to make sure that place is somewhere you want to be.” He went on to say, “having an inclusive nature is one of our three tenants of business. We want to foster a space where women can feel empowered and comfortable to work to their fullest potential. We take pride in our partnerships with ambitious female CEOs like Izabella and Crystal who set a brilliant example of the community we have created at Nomadworks. It’s our dedication to making Nomadworks more than just an office that really sets us apart.”
