They are also known as (1α, 2β, 4β, 5α, 7β)-7-[(Hydroxydi-2-thienylacetyl) oxy]-9,9-dimethyl-3-oxa-9-azoniatricyclo [3.3.1.02,4] nonane bromide monohydrate.
It is a muscarinic receptor antagonist that acts mainly on the smooth muscles’ cells present on the sub-mucosal gland, especially on the M3 muscarinic receptors. They are also referred to as anti-cholinergic or an anti-muscarinic agent. This anti-cholinergic medication helps in blocking the acetylcholine activity in the smooth muscles.
