Valentine’s Day is a great holiday not only for couples, but for singles too! Although Valentine’s Day makes some people become more aware of the fact that they are single, there are a lot of things you can do without anyone else. You don’t have to spend money on gifts and chocolate, and you don’t need to get out of bed when this holiday falls on the weekend. Valentine’s Day can be a wonderful day for singles. Check out some great activities you can do if you are single on Valentine’s Day!
1. Dine at a nice restaurant
If you are single, it means that you shouldn’t pay half the bill that dining out would normally cost, and it also means that you can spend more to dine out. You can go to your favorite restaurant, or find a new one. Dining at a luxury restaurant is one of the best things to do on Valentine’s Day.
2. Buy flowers
A beautiful bouquet of red roses doesn’t have to be given to anyone. These flowers can sit in an office or at home and brighten up the surroundings. It can also act as a natural air freshener. Flowers on Valentine’s Day are not only for lovers!
3. Cook up something new
Cooking up something new and great doesn’t mean that you should be an acclaimed chef. Browse the Internet and find some new cookbooks or some family recipes to make something delicious and new. Make that Valentine’s Day more interesting by adding a little bit of spice.
4. Get a dog
If you hate loneliness and you don’t want to be single on Valentine’s Day, why not buy a dog? This friend can be one of the best companions on this day of love. If you don’t have money, go to the local animal shelter and adopt a nice dog. It will be your new best friend! When this friend has been named and gotten the proper shots, take him out for a long walk.
5. Take a class
If you are uncomfortable with spending Valentine’s Day by yourself, try taking some class. It can be art, music, dance, or cooking classes, or even something more professional. The atmosphere should be friendly enough to distract everyone feeling down on Valentine’s Day, and there is the chance of meeting someone new.
6. Adventure
If you prefer the peace you should try taking some different ways from home to work. You can also just walk around. The less taken path is often filled with some hidden gems and discovering one of those treasures could make you feel accomplished. That path is also a perfect place for thinking.
7. Spa day
Although it may sound like a cliché, a spa day either with your single friends or alone is a fabulous way to feel very special, truly pampered and relaxed on Valentine’s Day. Plus, it will do wonders for your body. The whole point of a spa day is to have some time for self-reflection, quiet meditation and relaxation, so make sure you have all supplies purchased. Also, make sure to give yourself plenty of time to do all the treatments.
8. Start your spring cleaning
If you’re absolutely lonely on Valentine’s Day, it can be rather frustrating, so it’s important to be involved in a constructive activity that will help you forget you are single. Why wait until early spring to begin your spring cleaning? Start doing it now so you can enjoy the warm weather when the spring arrives. Getting rid of things you don’t need any more and cleaning the house are physically as well as mentally tiring so by the time you have done several hours of this, you will feel a real sense of accomplishment and forget about Valentine’s Day.
9. Volunteer
Do you think being without a man feels terrible? Well, let’s think about those who don’t have parents, a home to live in or who are terminally ill. If you are single and you feel sorry for yourself on Valentine’s Day, go to the homeless shelter and help serve food, and you will realize that you are not as miserable as those people living in the homeless shelter. People who are confined to nursing homes or hospitals are usually the loneliest people on planet, and the feelings of loneliness are worse on holidays including Valentine’s Day. Make the lives of those people who are disabled or ill a little more bearable by visiting them and giving some small presents.
10. Watch a non-romantic movie
If you have single friends or relatives, why not ask them out to watch a non-romantic movie with you. It’s also a great idea to go to a movie alone on Valentine’s Day. Who knows, maybe you will find your love on this special day. There are many singles going to a movie, and this is a great opportunity to find someone you will love forever.
There are plenty of interesting things to do for singles on Valentine’s Day, and these are only a few of them. What else can single people do on Valentine’s Day? Share your ideas, please!
