It can be difficult to get over shyness, but it’s possible if you really want it. I’ve been shy ever since I was little, and even though I did learn some best ways to overcome shyness, I can’t say for sure that I’m no longer shy, but I try to control my feelings. I often succeed in doing that and I feel very proud of myself for getting over my shyness. If you want to overcome your shyness, here are a few best ways to try.
1. Figure out the cause of shyness
First of all you should find out what actually makes you feel shy. Do you feel shy when you meet someone new or in front of new audiences? Do you feel awkward and uncomfortable when you find yourself in a new situation? Figure out the cause of your shyness and start overcoming it!
2. Avoid comparing yourself to other people
Stop comparing yourself to others! It could only do you harm! When you compare yourself to other people, you think that you could never measure up, and it even makes you shyer. You should love yourself and appreciate the special person that you’re!
3. Smile
If you want to overcome your shyness, you need to learn how to smile more often. Smile even to strangers. As long as you smile, nobody will focus on your small errors or on your mistakes, because they’ll be enchanted by your wonderful smile.
4. Find your strengths
The next thing you should do is to discover your qualities and strengths! I’m sure you have many unique qualities that can amaze many people! It’s essential to figure out what things you do well. This is what makes you so special and beautiful. Don’t focus on what you’re doing wrong, focus on what is amazing about you instead!
5. Decrease your anxiety levels
Anxiety has a great impact on feeling shy, that’s why it’s important to learn some methods and techniques to reduce your anxiety levels. This will help you to overcome your shyness much faster. You can even get help from a therapist or a counselor, if you want or need.
6. Find a new hobby
Try to find a new hobby to meet people who have the same passions and interests as you. You will communicate more and will also do something you really enjoy. Just make sure you choose a more social activity that encourages contact to other people, such as a team sport.
7. Believe in yourself
Believe in yourself! You can do whatever you want to do! If you don’t believe in yourself, then who will? Remember words carry an incredible energy, and it’s very important what you tell to yourself. If you continue saying that you are a very shy person or that you can’t do anything, your unconscious mind will believe that and, of course, act accordingly. So tell yourself that you can do everything and see what happens!
8. Be approachable
Try to look and act approachable and use your body language to convey an open, friendly attitude. Also learn to love yourself and avoid labeling yourself as a shy person. Always keep eye contact and smile! Having good posture is also very important when you’re trying to get over your shyness. When you sit up straight, you give the impression that you are an open and confident person.
Keep in mind that everyone is feeling shy at certain times and situations in their lives. You are not alone! Do you consider yourself a shy person? How are you going to overcome your shyness? Do you have any tips? Share them, please.
