Skincare For Aging Skin

Skincare For Aging Skin : The market is full of products that promise a miracle cure for wrinkles and other signs of aging. While there is something to be said about the efficacy of such creams, potions, and other products, in order for any skin care plan to work, you must develop certain healthy skin care habits.

Healthy skin care habits are essential for effective anti-aging skin care and can clear up skin blotches, retain the youthful firmness of skin, reduce the appearance of wrinkles, minimize cancer risks, and keep your complexion more youthful.

When it comes to skin care, there is no one plan fits all kind of solution. Every person’s skin is unique and hence reacts differently to stimuli. It is always better to develop your own anti-aging skin care routine, with products that suit your skin. We’ve summarized a few skin care habits that are essential in your fight against aging.

And when you put your trust in a particular brand, you have to ensure that they will live up to their promise like Osmosis Skincare. It would also be best if they have a wide range of products, so you don’t have to jump brands for other things you’ll need for your skin like your vitamins and cosmetics.

Get Adequate Protection from The Sun

Protecting your skin from the sun is a basic tenet that must be followed if you want to prevent your skin from aging prematurely. The UV rays in sunlight can hasten the natural aging process, making your skin look leathery. There is a ton of evidence to support the fact that over exposure to the sun damages and ages skin.

The phenomenon is called “photoaging.” To protect your skin from harmful UV rays of the sun, try to remain indoors or at least in the shade between 11 AM to 3 PM, when the sun is at the top of your head. You should also cover up whatever skin you can with hats, pants, and long-sleeved shirts. Protect your hands with gloves and eyes with large sunglasses to minimize and reduce fine likes and age spots. You must also use sunscreen before going out in the sun, and reapply every 2 – 3 hours.

And if it’s cloudy, it doesn’t mean that the sun’s harmful rays cannot penetrate the thick dark clouds. Evidence shows that the sun’s rays can still be potent even during cloudy and rainy days, so don’t skip your sunblock. A good rule is to wear sunblock daily, even if you’re not going out, because the sun can penetrate your windows and your roof.

Ensure Your Skin is Moisturized and Hydrated

You should use a good quality moisturizer every single day, and night. When we become older, our skin tends to dry out naturally. This facilitates the formation of wrinkle and fine lines, especially around the eyes. Using a moisturizer helps retain moisture within our skin, making it appear fresh and more youthful. You should moisturise your whole body and not just your face for supple young skin. You should also moisturize your lips using a good quality lip balm.

Dermatologists suggest immediately moisturizing as soon as you get out of the shower, which means don’t wipe your body dry. Apply your moisturizer and lotion while your skin is still wet to trap the much-needed moisture inside.

Keep Your Skin Clean

Keeping your skin clean and free from all sort of grime and dirt is imperative. You should thoroughly wash your face twice a day using a cleanser that suits your skin type. What you use to clean your face is an important consideration. It is best to use a mild cleanser and warm water rather than soap on your skin. Find a good quality cleanser suited for your skin type like Cerave vs Cetaphil. You should use gentle circular motions to wash your face and avoid scrubbing too hard.

Occasionally, you may exfoliate to slough off dead skin cells and reveal new younger looking skin. You have to do this gently and choose the method for your skin. You may do physical, chemical, or manual exfoliation. It would be best to test it on a small part of your skin to avoid irritation.

Quit Smoking

Tobacco is full of toxins that cause premature aging. You should stop smoking unless you want to end up with smoker’s face. Smoker’s face is when all the nicotine and toxins in cigarettes take a toll on your skin, making your complexion dull and dry. Smoking also makes your skin lose its firmness, and causes leathery skin, premature lines and wrinkles.
