For the luxury real estate professional and mother, fitness is not simply about looking good. It is about energy, longevity, discipline, and showing up at 100 percent in every area of life.

For Shauna Harless, fitness is not something squeezed into an already busy schedule. It is the foundation that helps her show up for everything else.

From Monday through Friday, Harless protects a non-negotiable one-hour block first thing in the morning, before her workday begins. She sees that hour as more than exercise. It is time to energize, reconnect with her body, and prepare herself for the demands of a busy day.

“Exercise is how I maximize my energy source,” she explains. For Harless, that energy has a direct connection to performance. Her philosophy is simple: when you feel your best on the inside, you look your best on the outside, and when you feel and look your best, you are better equipped to perform at your highest level.

That idea of peak performance extends far beyond fitness. Harless defines it as giving her 100 percent everywhere she shows up in the world.

From Dreaming to Doing

Harless brings the same mindset to her career and personal goals. She has always been drawn to challenges that others might consider impossible.

“I love doing things people say cannot be done,” she says.

In real estate, that mindset means looking beyond whether a deal can close and focusing instead on finding a strategy that makes the opportunity appealing to everyone involved. In life, it means refusing to put limits on what she believes she can experience.

For Harless, believing in herself and taking action are inseparable.

She recalls a quote about the difference between dreamers and wishers that has stayed with her: a dreamer shows up and works toward achieving the goal, while a wisher remains in a place of hope, uncertain whether it will ever happen.

That philosophy resonates deeply with her own approach to life. If she dreams about something, she believes she is meant to experience it. But she also understands that the dream requires her to show up and give 100 percent.

A 5 A.M. Start

Her days begin at 5 a.m., with herself coming first.

Before tending to work, family responsibilities, or anything else on her schedule, Harless takes time to care for her own needs. She believes that even one hour dedicated to filling your own tank can make a significant difference in how you perform throughout the day.

From there, she organizes her schedule around time-sensitive and financial priorities. Once those responsibilities are handled, she creates space for the lifestyle activities she values.

And one of her biggest priorities is being present for her daughter.

As a hands-on mother who also co-chairs multiple school committees and manages both her daughter’s schedule and her own, Harless is intentional about making the most of their time together.

“I know I only have 18 Summers before my daughter moves to college,” she says, a reminder of why she wants to savor every stage of her daughter’s journey.

Redefining the Fitness Goal

Interestingly, Harless’s fitness goal last year was straightforward: she wanted to look like she belonged in a fitness magazine.

“Here I am today!” she says.

But her focus has since evolved. Today, longevity is at the center of her approach to wellness.

Rather than obsessing over a number on the scale, Harless focuses on nourishing her body and becoming stronger. She prioritizes approximately 100–120 grams of protein per day, along with carbohydrates, fruits, vegetables, and progressive-overload workouts.

She also rarely steps on a scale, saying that she only does so when visiting a doctor.

For her, fitness is about what the body can do, not simply what a number says.

And the heavier she lifts, the more energy she feels she has throughout the day.

That strength even comes in handy during everyday family life. One of her favorite examples is being able to carry her daughter and her two teacup Pomeranians down the stairs at the same time.

Food, Community, and Balance

Harless does not view healthy living as a lifestyle built around restriction. Food is an important part of how she connects with her community.

She averages about one meal out per day and enjoys sharing meals with others. When dining out, one of her simple habits is requesting sauces and dressings on the side.

For her, wellness is about creating a sustainable lifestyle rather than eliminating the experiences she enjoys.

The Next Level of Luxury Wellness

Her perspective on wellness also influences what she sees happening in the luxury real estate market.

Harless has noticed buyers increasingly embracing dedicated recovery spaces within their homes. Home gyms are being complemented by wellness rooms featuring infrared saunas, massage spaces, soaking tubs, and other recovery amenities.

She has also seen creative features such as red-light therapy rooms and hyperbaric chambers designed to accommodate multiple people, turning wellness into a social experience.

“The sky is the limit when it comes to creativity, luxury and wellness,” she says.

Ultimately, Harless believes growth is essential in every area of life.

“If you’re not growing, you’re dying,” she says.

She approaches every project wondering how far it can expand and deliberately pushes herself beyond her comfort zone.

For Harless, that same philosophy comes back to one final principle: boundaries, belief, and discipline.

She sees boundaries as a gift because they communicate how you want to be treated while saving everyone time and energy. And she believes belief must be paired with discipline.

Without discipline, she says, a dream remains a wish.

Belief combined with discipline, however, becomes one of the ultimate forms of self-respect.
